Help With Parenting Struggles

Blocked Care

Blocked care is when a parent experiences extreme or constant levels of stress, becoming overwhelmed with caring for their child. To self protect, the parent may shut down and struggle to feel love, compassion, or attached to their child. Contributing factors include:

1. Challenging, extreme behaviors by their child
2. Significant life stressors such as divorce, illness, crises
3. Unrealistic or unmet expectations about the child or parenting
4. Unresolved grief or trauma
