Adopting an “older child” can bring both an abundance of blessings and challenges to the adoptive family. The child joins the family with a personality, experiences, and characteristics that were formed long before the adoption occurred. They will most definitely enter the relationship with a history, which can either encourage or inhibit their ability to attach with and interact appropriately within a new family. Older child adoption is not for everyone.
